You want to go to the Fogo Island Inn someday. Come with us.

By now, you know people who’ve been there; you’ve heard their rapturous recounting.

Now, we can take you there for less than you’d pay on your own and in the company of…well, think of this as group travel for people who don’t do group travel, like you.

The Fogo Island Inn is as improbable as the idea of Canada itself. Located in a tiny, frail village in a far corner of Newfoundland, “on an island off an island off the radar”, the Inn has quickly grown to be a place the world is flocking to.  Not just because it’s gobsmackingly gorgeous, but because its creator, Zita Cobb, has built a new model for what community can be.

On May 25 – 28, 2023  — we’re leading a group of friends to the Inn for an experience that you’ll not soon forget. In fact, we hope to have most, if not all the Inn to ourselves, which means it will be like a four day Ted Talk, foodies’ paradise and…summer camp for grownups. But in the spring and fall, two very different seasons. September always has berries, zillions of them, and May generally has icebergs, careening down from Greenland.

The Inn itself is everything you’d expect from one of the world’s most instantly and extravagantly lauded destinations. In addition to enjoying the fabulous ambiance of the hotel itself, the waves bursting ashore outside our spectacular rooms, the delicious Newfoundland Cuisine, we’ll be ‘out there’ as well as hiking, foraging, exploring the fabulous landscape and generally rushing to experience one of the most hospitable and authentic communities on Earth.

We’ll spend three glorious days and nights at the Inn.

Getting there will be less glorious only because transport to an island off the north shore of Newfoundland is never easy. But we’ve been there and we know how to make the journey part of the adventure.

Late afternoon/evening: Fly to Gander, Newfoundland, the closest commercial airport to Fogo. Check in to the Comfort Inn there.

Thursday, May 25, 2023

All aboard our private bus for the 90 minute drive to the seashore to get the morning ferry to Fogo Island. The ferry ride is 45 minutes from the north shore to Fogo Island, and the hotel is a 25-minute drive to Joe Batt’s Arm, where we then check in to Fogo Island Inn and enjoy a late lunch from the Inn’s dining room while the Atlantic ocean crashes on the shore just steps away.

The rest of the day will be spent in the company of a community host who will guide us around the Island.

Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27, 2023

In and around the Inn, we’ll enjoy the rooftop hot tubs, spectacular spa, roaring fires, live music, restful library, gorgeous dining room and every particle of it filled with Newfoundland hospitality.

We are finalizing the full itinerary and highlights will for sure include: hiking, community excursions, cultural insights and one of the most beguiling after-parties you’ve ever been to.

Sunday, May 28, 2023

After breakfast at the Inn, we make our way back to Gander Airport for our flights home. Or you may want to stay – either at the Inn or in Newfoundland, a little longer. It’s absolutely your choice.

Yes, the trip is pricey.

But the cost with us is lower than you’d pay on your own. Indeed, you’ll never stay in comparable rooms for less.

Here’s where you need to focus intently.

The prices quoted below (different suites of different sizes mean different rates) include your costs at the Inn (excluding alcohol) as well as transfers to and from the Inn (bus and ferry). We’ve also put together an air and ground package that includes your flights to Gander and back to Toronto, plus your overnight stay at the Comfort Inn in Gander.

To book everything – the Inn and the getting there and back – please contact our travel agent, Kris Knowles, at 647-205-1228 or, and she will take your deposit and answer your travel questions.

Here are the costs for the two different trips. 2023 is more expensive than 2022.

The cost for the travel portion of the package is $1467 per person (add $80 per person single supplement at the Gander Comfort Inn) for the 2022 trip.  And, while it’s too early to cost out travel for the 2023 trip, we urge you strongly to book the Fogo Island Inn part of your trip. After all, it was one of the Top 3 hotels in the world last year, and as we emerge however fitfully from the pandemic, is growing even more popular.(*Ferries and ground transfers of approx. $200 per person will be charged when you check out.)

Here are the costs for accommodation at the Fogo Island Inn, all meals and activities.

Two final words of experience. Travel insurance is highly recommended, and if you’re planning to come on your own, we suggest you find a good friend to join you; single supplements are eye-watering!

We very much hope you can join us in May of 2023 – and escape from the numbing uniformity of modern times.

Here’s a preview of what that escape looks like.
